Energy

So this week we are learning all about energy. We learned about work and power, and also a lot of new equations involving Kinetic energy, potential energy of gravity, and potential energy of a spring. Work is the average force multiplied by the length or distance and object is pushed or pulled. Work and power are kind of related to each other in a way that you need to solve for work to find power because work is force times the distance covered and power is the work divided by the time in seconds. Work is also in a new unit called Joules which is also equivalent to Newtons x mass. Another important rule learned in this lesson is the law of the conservation of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, just recycled in different forms of energy. This is like how Mr. Blake referenced the Lion King, which is one of my favorite Disney movies, about the part when Mufasa is telling Simba about the circle of life- which according to Mr. Blake should actually be called the circle of energy. The antelope eat the grass and the lions eat the antelope, but when the lions die they decompose and turn into the grass so the antelopes in a sense are eating the lions too in this giant circle of recycled and conserved energy.
